Finding Shelter: An Exhibition of Contemporary Fiber Art,
curated by Deborah Kuster
I was drawn to the artists selected for this exhibit because their diverse fiber art suggested pods, solace, protection, webbing, habitat, or comfort. This idea of shelter is broad—possibly as physical, emotional, interpersonal, environmental, or as finding shelter in the creative process itself. My goal is that this exhibit will provide shelter for the viewer in some personal way.
The artists that have agreed to exhibit are:
Kate Anderson
Lanny Bergner Tom Lundberg
Eve Deisher Nnemma Okore
Lindsay Ketterer Gates Ann Coddington Rast
Polly Jacobs Giacchina Amanda Salm
Andrea Graham Tucker Schwarz
Jan Hopkins Jo Stealey
The exhibition is scheduled to open on January 21 and end February 18, 2016 at the Baum Gallery of the University of Central Arkansas, Conway, AR (http://uca.edu/art/baum/exhibitions/)
Reception: Thursday, January 21, 2016, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Gallery Talk with Fiber Artist Ann Coddington: Thursday, January 28, 2016, 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Public Lecture with Ann Coddington and Jo Stealey: Thurs, Jan 28, 2016, 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Workshop for K-12 Educators: Thursday, January 28, 2016, 7:00-8:00 p.m.
